According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on April 17, 2024, at about 10:08 PM, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Unit responded to an address in the Village of Boonville for reports of a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, Deputies located a 51-year-old male lying on the floor who appeared to have sustained serious injuries to his face and head. While attempting to administer first aid to the injured individual a second male was in the residence and detained due to the seriousness of the incident.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Forensic Identification Unit were contacted and responded to assist with the investigation. The male who sustained serious injuries was transported to Wynn Hospital by Boonville Ambulance Service where he remains with serious injuries.

The second male that was detained at the residence, Justin Moran, age 28, was transported back to the Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Building and charged with Assault in the First Degree, a B Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a D Felony. After processing, Moran was transported to the Oneida County Jail where he was held pending an arraignment in CAP Court.

Due to the nature of the incident, the victim’s name will not be released. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, the Boonville Fire Department, and the Boonville Ambulance Service.
