"Something Needs to Change"

This morning, Sheriff Maciol and Executive Director Ray Durso from the Genesis Group, along with more than 200 people were pleased to welcome Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter to the Mohawk Valley to discuss “The Consortium for Safe Communities.” The initiative began in October of 2022 to advocate for improvements to Public Safety legislation in New York State. Members of the group include crime victims, clergy, business people, community groups, law enforcement, government, medical professionals, legal professionals, and private citizens who refuse to accept the current state of our community as normal. The Consortium is already established in Niagara, Erie, and Monroe counties.

Today, we are pleased to announce the Mohawk Valley is joining the Consortium for Safe Communities. Our region will be a part of the consortium's newly created "Mohawk Valley Chapter." The Genesis Group is pleased to partner with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Foundation, First Source Federal Credit Union, the Save Our Streets program, and area officials to make this happen. Together, we will create awareness and get as many people as possible to sign on and support this important initiative.
