According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, on January 16, 2018 at about 0350 AM, a one vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 8 and 28 in the Town of Deerfield sent two people to the hospital. Tomas Fernandez II, age 22 from Gloversville, was traveling in a 2014 Buick, in an easterly direction on Route 8 in the Town of Deerfield when he attempted to make a right hand turn to head north on Route 28 when he lost control of the vehicle and slid on the snow covered roadway. The vehicle then struck the guide rail at the intersection of Route 8 and 28. Both Tomas Fernandez II and his front seat passenger, his father, Tomas Fernandez, age 54 also of Gloversville both complained of chest and back pain. Both parties were transported to St Elizabeth Hospital by Kunkel Ambulance for a medical evaluation. The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Poland Fire Department.
