According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 11/12/2019 at approximately 7:00 AM, Michael Smith, age 26, of Rome, was operating 2013 Bernie Bus Co. International school bus east on Oswego Rd. in the city of Rome, when he lost control of the bus on the ice covered pavement and drove the bus into the ditch on the south shoulder. Smith, a bus monitor and three students that were on the bus were not injured. Rome Fire Department and AmCare Ambulance responded to the scene and assisted Deputies. No tickets have been issued at this time.
