According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, on 03/01/20 around 4:50 PM, road patrol deputies responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 49 in the Town of Vienna. Deputies reported, John Ward (62), of Cleveland was operating a 2012, Chevrolet Cruz, West bound on State Route 49 when it is believed Ward began to experience a medical emergency. Passenger in the vehicle, Christine Ward (63) also of Cleveland, attempted to gain control of the vehicle as the vehicle exited the northern shoulder of Route 49, striking 02 mail boxes and laying to rest in the ditch. C. Ward was not injured from the crash. J. Ward was unconscious and suffering from agonal breathing. Members of the Vienna Fire Department assisted on scene tending to J. Ward. J. Ward was transported by Vine All Ambulance service to Oneida City Hospital for an unknown medical concern. No UTT were issued. Deputies were assisted on scene by Vienna Fire Department and VineAll EMT staff.
