According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, 1 person was sent to the hospital following a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the City of Rome.

On May 1st, 2020 at approximately 4:13 P.M., Mark Engelbert, 47 years old of Rome, was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Fish Hatchery Road in the City of Rome when he approached a pedestrian in the roadway. Mark attempted to avoid the pedestrian but could not, striking the pedestrian with the front side of the vehicle. The pedestrian, William Griffith, 69 years old of Rome, was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital by AmCare Ambulance for evaluation of the injuries.

Assisting on scene were members of AmCare Ambulance and Rome Fire Department.
