Update: Personal injury motor vehicle crash East Ava Road T/Ava

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on today's date at 6:35 AM, Deputies were dispatched to a personal injury motor vehicle crash on East Ava Road in the Town of Ava. The investigation determined that Katie R. Ingersoll 32, of Lee, was driving southbound on East Ava Road in a Ford Explorer when the driver's side mirror of her vehicle struck the driver's side mirror of an unknown northbound vehicle. Ingersoll then swerved right and exited East Ava Road to the west where her vehicle first struck a utility pole then went over an embankment and struck several trees before coming to rest. The other involved vehicle left the scene after the collision with Ingersoll's vehicle and there are no known witnesses to the crash.

Ingersoll was transported by West Leyden Ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained as a result of the crash. Ingersoll was cited for impudent speed for the conditions and issued a ticket returnable to Ava Town Court at an upcoming date. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by West Leyden Fire and Ambulance and Grower's towing. Anyone who may have witnessed or had been involved in this crash is asked to contact Deputy Brognano at (315)736-0141.
