According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a New Hartford man was injured following a 1-car crash on Morgan Road in the Town of Marcy.

At about 1:35 am on 12/11/2020, a patrol deputy was dispatched to the area of Morgan Road and Morris Road in the Town of Marcy for a personal injury motor vehicle accident.

While on scene, it was determined that, Jason L. Groah, 39 of New Hartford and his passenger, Alexander J. Catera, 22 of Washington Mills were traveling in a northerly direction on Morris Road. As Groah approached the intersection of Morgan Road and Morris Road during the course of investigation, Groah failed to stop at the stop sign as he went through the intersection before coming to a rest in the ditch just off of the northern shoulder of the roadway on Morgan Road. Further investigation revealed that Groah appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Groah was then transported by Kunkel Ambulance to St Lukes Hospital for minor injuries.

A Deputy assigned to the DWI unit responded to the hospital to conduct a DWI investigation. While at the hospital, the Deputy subsequently arrested Groah for DWI.

Due to Groah being treated for his injuries at the hospital, a follow up will be conducted at a later time.

The New York State Police, Maynard Fire Department and Kunkel Ambulance assisted on scene.
