According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol deputies responded to an address on Rome Oriskany Road in the City of Rome for a structure fire around 9 PM. At this time we have confirmed at least two fatalities. Due to the structure being unstable Rome Fire Department members are still unable to enter the residence. We will provide more information along with the names of the deceased when identification has been confirmed.

The Sheriff's Office along with Rome Fire Department are still on scene and will be for quite some time. Please continue to avoid the area.

UPDATE TO THE FIRE:

At this time the Sheriff's Office is still on scene of the structure fire on Rome Oriskany Road in the City of Rome and they will continue to be on scene into the morning. We can confirm there are four fatalities to the structure fire, all believed to be adults. The bodies were removed by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification. The names will be released once that has been done and notification of family. The road will remain closed until the morning.
