According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Town of Floyd man has been arrested for having sexual contact with an underage female child.

The investigation began on January 05, 2021, when it was reported that 30-year-old Cody J. Moon-Perkins had sexual contact with a 15-year-old female child. Rome Police Detective Alex Sypniewski, who is assigned to the CAC, was assigned to the case. OCSO Investigator Mark Chrysler assisted with the investigation. During the investigation, it was learned that the sexual contact occurred during the month of October of 2020 in the Town of Westmoreland.

On January 11, 2021, Cody J. Moon-Perkins was arrested by Detective Sypniewski and Investigator Chrysler. Moon-Perkins was charged with Rape in the 3rd Degree, a Class E Felony.

After processing, Moon-Perkins was taken to the Sheriff’s Correctional Facility where he was arraigned and remanded to the facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

An Order of Protection has been issued on behalf of the victim and services have been offered to the child through the Child Advocacy Center.
