The 2021 Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Horticulture Program restarts with the assistance of Adirondack Central School District. A special thank you goes out to the Students who grew these plants from seed in the District Greenhouse.

This year's work began on the garden mid May and will produce vegetables until approximately the end of September, with pumpkins and vegetables expected to be harvested. The vegetables will be used to supplement meals in the jail, and the pumpkins will be donated to local Women's Shelters.

Inmates who volunteer for the Horticulture Program are interviewed and selected to participate. Once in the program, the inmates work in the horticulture area, which is part of the Public Safety Complex.

This program creates an opportunity for the inmates to learn valuable skills that will be useful to them once they are released from our facility.
