According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a 13 year old Juvenile from the City of Utica has been charged with assaulting a 1 year old child.

On June 1, 2021, The Utica Police Department responded to a home in the City of Utica for a reported assault upon a 1 year old child. The 1 year old child was treated at a local hospital for lacerations and bruising to her face and head.

Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Nicholas Dean, who is assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, was assigned to assist with this investigation.

The investigation revealed that the child had been assaulted in the home by a 13 year old Juvenile.

Investigator Dean has referred the 13 year old Juvenile to Oneida County Juvenile Probation, charged with assaulting and endangering the welfare of the 1 year old Child.

An order of protection has been requested on behalf of the victim and services are being offered to the victim and the victim's family by Oneida County Child Protective Services and the Child Advocacy Center.
