According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the portion of Route 233 between Old Bristol Road and Route 5 in the Town of Kirkland which had been previously closed is now reopened.

Deputies were originally dispatched for a "Be On the Look Out" in the area of Route 12B in the Town of Marshall for a northbound tractor trailer which was reported by other motorists to be driving erratically. An Investigator with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office located the same tractor trailer northbound on Route 233 in the Town of Kirkland and attempted to stop the vehicle. The tractor trailer exited Route 233 off from the east shoulder where it struck the guide rail and several trees before stopping for the police lights. The driver of the tractor trailer, Torrance C. Anderson 32, of Lorain, Ohio was not injured during the crash, nor were there any other injuries. Anderson was cited for unreasonable speed and failure to keep right and issued traffic summons returnable to Kirkland Town Court. The section of Route 233 between Old Bristol Road and Route 233 in Kirkland was shut down for approximately an hour and a half while the guide rail damage and fluid spill were cleaned up. Members of Kirkland Fire, Clinton Collision, New York State DOT, and the New York State Police assisted at the scene.
