According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; Road patrol deputies responded to a two car motor vehicle accident near the intersection of State Route 233 and Evans Road in the outer district of Rome, resulting in a Rome woman being transported to a local hospital.

Per road patrol deputies investigation, Peter Lopez (30), of Clinton, was operating a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado northerly on Route 233 when he failed to noticed a 2009 Subaru, operated by, Kimberly Bryant (36), of Rome, who was stopped in traffic, attempting to negotiate a turn. Lopez's vehicle rear-ended the Subaru, pushing the vehicle into the oncoming lane of travel. Bryant was evaluated on scene by AmCare Ambulance personnel for head and neck pain before being transported to Saint Elizabeth's Hospital for further evaluation. Lopez was cited for Following too closely and operating at unreasonable speeds, returnable to the City of Rome Court at a later date and time. Deputies were assisted on scene by AmCare Ambulance, Stanwix Heights Fire Department, and Rome City Fire Department.
