According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on January 25, 2022, at about 3:35 PM Deputies responded to Route 49 Westbound in the Outer District of Rome for a reported Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2002 Nissan XTerra, operated by Jonathon Sulyma 36, of Oriskany Falls, was entering Route 49 Westbound from the 825 Ramp when he lost control of his vehicle due to slippery roadway conditions. As a result, Sulyma struck a guardrail on the southern shoulder of the roadway, which caused his vehicle to roll over and come to rest on its tires next to the guardrail. Sulyma was transported to a local hospital due to non-life-threatening injuries sustained as a result of the accident. Sulyma was issued one traffic ticket for speed not reasonable and prudent made returnable to Rome City Court on a later date.
