April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is taking part in the nationwide National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) U Drive. U Text. U Pay. initiative to raise awareness on distracted driving.

Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle crashes nationwide.

Did you know sending or reading a text takes your eyes off the road for an average of 5 seconds? At 55 mph, that's like driving the length of an entire football field with your eyes closed.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging motorists to focus their attention on driving to help keep themselves and members of our community safe. Remember, “U Drive. U Text. U Pay”.
