According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol; On July 22, 2022, at approximately 11:37 AM, Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies were working at the Oneida County Office Building located at 800 Park Ave in the City of Utica responded to a traffic complaint involving a motor vehicle parked in the pedestrian crosswalk, obstructing the flow of traffic.

Per the deputies investigation, it was determined that Amanda M. Schorer 34, of Utica, parked a Chrysler Pacifica in the pedestrian crosswalk, leaving it unattended while obtaining paperwork from inside the Oneida County Office Building. Deputies determined that Schorer did not have proper car seats equipped in her vehicle for her two young children who ranged from the ages of one to four years old. Schorer was given the opportunity to obtain proper car seats before departing from the County Office Building. Schorer disregarded the opportunity when she placed her motor vehicle in drive, turning left and accelerating away while a Deputy was engaged in an active conversation with Schorer at her open drivers side door causing the deputy to be forced into the roadway of Park Ave.

On July 25, 2022, Schorer was located and arrested for (2) counts of endangering the welfare of a child and (1) count of Reckless Endangerment.

Schorer was issued an appearance ticket along with several traffic tickets returnable to Utica City Court at a later date.
