According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on August 8, 2022, the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Unit responded to the Oneida County DMV Office located at 321 Main Street in the City of Utica for reports of wallet that had been stolen.

During the investigation, a suspect was identified, and the case was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit. On August 10, 2022, the Criminal Investigation Unit arrested a City of Utica man, William Hawkins Jr, age 60, for Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, an E Felony.

Hawkins Jr. was processed at the LEB and released on an appearance ticket returnable to Utica City Court at a later date.
