According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on August 9, 2022 at approximately 7:00 AM patrol deputies responded to Old River Rd in the Town of Marcy for an abandoned camper located in the roadway. Upon further investigation it was found that the camper was stolen from a building nearby and left on the side of the road when it was unable to be towed any further. As a result of the investigation that followed, and with the assistance from the New York State Police, the Criminal Investigation Unit arrested both James L. Collazo, 31 of Rome, NY, and Joseph M. Murray, 37 of Marcy, NY for grand larceny in the third degree for taking the camper. Collazo was booked on 08/10/2022 and released following arraignment. Murray was booked on 08/18/2022 and is being held at the Oneida County Jail pending his arraignment at Oneida County CAP Court.
