According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a 24 year old female and a 31 year old female were injured in a Two Car Motor Vehicle Accident on River Road in the City of Rome.

On Thursday, August 17th, 2023, at approximately 6:00 pm, Deputies responded to River Road in the City of Rome for a Two Car Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident. Deputies determined that Sandeep Korlakunta (Age 31) of Utica was entering the roadway in a 2020 Jeep from a driveway on River Road, where he failed to yield for oncoming traffic and pulled in front of a 2017 Chevrolet being operated by Malai Jarvis (age 24) of New Hartford, resulting in a collision. The passenger of Sandeep's vehicle, Rajitha Goddam (age 31), was transported by Amcare Ambulance to Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center for non life threatening injuries. The passenger of Malai's vehicle, Mackenzie Whooten (age 24), was transported by Amcare Ambulance to Rome Health for non life threatening injuries.

Sandeep was issued a citation returnable to the Rome City Court on a later date.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Amcare Ambulance and the City of Rome Fire Department.
