According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 01/21/2024 at about 2:30 AM, Patrol Deputies and the Clinton Fire Department responded to a residential fire on College Hill Rd in the Town of Kirkland. The home is owned by Hamilton College and was housing a college employee and family. Deputies arrived on scene and determined the house was safely evacuated and encountered heavy smoke.

A short time later, the Clinton Fire Dept. arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. The Clinton Fire Chief requested assistance from the Sheriff’s Office with investigating the Origin and Cause. Following an investigation, it was determined that the fire started at the main electrical panel within the house and the cause was due to an electrical failure. There was minor fire damage to the residence.

The fire is not suspicious and there were no reported injuries. National Grid and Central Oneida County Ambulance assisted on scene.
