According to Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office investigated a two-car personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 5 in the Town of Westmoreland. At approximately 09:54 HRS on June 6, 2024, Sabrina Potter, age 44, from Rome NY, was operating a 2018 Dodge pickup truck, traveling in an easterly direction on State Route 5 near the intersection of Deans Highway. While traveling east, Potter’s vehicle struck the rear of a 2020 Buick SUV being operated by Margaret Dowling, age 73, from Waterville NY. Dowling was transported to Wynn Hospital with critical injuries. At this time, the accident is still under investigation and is being reconstructed. While on the scene, the Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police, the Westmoreland Fire Department, the Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the New York State Department of Transportation.
