According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, there was a single car motor vehicle accident on State Route 8 in the Town of Bridgewater at around 2:49 PM on June 29, 2024. Upon investigating the accident Deputies determined that a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup operated by Thomas Marietta (40) of Rome was traveling in a northerly direction on State Route 8 in the Town of Bridgewater. Due to heavy rainfall and slippery road conditions, Thomas lost control of the vehicle, went into a ditch on the eastern shoulder of the roadway, and flipped twice before landing on the driver's side where it came to rest. The vehicle had a total of three occupants, Marietta and two passengers. Both passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Wynn Hospital where they were treated and released. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Edwards Ambulance and the Bridgewater Fire Department.
