According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; An Oriskany Falls man was arrested after an investigation into a domestic that occurred in the Village of Oriskany Falls.

On July 7, 2024, Amjad Rashid Jr., 44, was arrested on charges related to a domestic incident that occurred in the afternoon of July 5, 2024.

Upon completion of the investigation, it was determined that Rashid had unlawfully imprisoned the victim and hit the victim several times causing a physical injury. The victim was able to leave the residence with her child and call 911 from a business across the street. Rashid was reported to have fled the scene.

Rashid’s vehicle was located the following day, July 6, 2024, at a nature trail in Madison County in the Town of Madison. The New York State Police and New York State Forrest Rangers were activated to conduct an organized search of the wooded area with K9’s and a Drone in an attempt to locate Rashid.

Rashid ultimately returned to the residence on July 7, 2024, and was taken into custody before being transported to Wynn Hospital for treatment.

Upon Release from the Hospital on July 15, 2024, Rashid was charged with the following:

Harassment 2nd, a Violation.

Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Criminal Mischief 4th (prevention of emergency call), a Class A Misdemeanor.

Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Reckless Endangerment 2nd, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, a Class a Misdemeanor.

Assault 3rd, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Rashid was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing, and was held pending arraignment at the Oneida County Central Arraignment Court.
