According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, an Augusta man has been arrested for having inappropriate contact with an underage female child.

The investigation began when members of the Child Advocacy Center were notified that a 12-year-old female child had been subjected to inappropriate contact by 18-year-old Austin Williamson. The case was assigned to Sheriff’s Investigator Mark R. Chrysler.

Investigator Chrysler’s investigation revealed that Williamson subjected the child to inappropriate sexual contact in the Town of New Hartford in April of 2024.

On July 29, 2024, Investigator Chrysler arrested Williamson on one count of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both of which are Class A Misdemeanors.

Williamson was processed and turned over to Oneida County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at CAP Court. After arraignment, Williamson was remanded to the Correctional Facility on $2,000 bail.

Services have been offered to the victim and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the child.
