According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol on 8/20/24 at about 10:19 PM Sheriff Deputies were called to a residence on Powell Road for a reported domestic incident involving a male with a knife. When Sheriff Deputies arrived on scene, deputies determined the male was the only person in the residence and initial attempts to have the male exit were unsuccessful. Members from the Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene and after just over an hour of negotiating, the male exited the residence and was taken into custody under Mental Health Law without incident. The male was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. There were no criminal charges stemming from this incident and the male's name will not be released due to no criminal charges. Powell Road is now open.
