According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, On Friday, September 06, 2024, at around 0925 hours the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office responded to State Route 46 near Pixley Falls State Park in Boonville for a single Motorcycle accident. Upon arriving Deputies determined that 77-year-old, Richard Mathis, from Rock Springs Wyoming, was traveling North on State Route 46 operating a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, and left the Eastern shoulder of the roadway colliding with a guide rail. Mathis was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained injuries. Due to Mathis injuries, he was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Hospital by Mercy Flight. The accident is still under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Boonville Fire Department, Western Fire Department, Star Ambulance, Mercy Flight, and Growers Towing.
