According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol; On September 26th, 2024 around 6:00 am, Road patrol deputies were dispatched to the area of State Route 294 in the Town of Ava for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a semi-tractor and sedan.

Road patrol deputies determined Jeffrey Zehr (58) of Castorland was operating a 2025 MACK Truck with an attached platform trailer when Jeffrey began to back into a logging lot. Corinda Seelman (39) of Constableville was traveling easterly in a 2023 Subaru Forester on State Route 294 when Corinda failed to observe the platform trailer due to a lack of Retro Reflective Sheeting affixed to the platform trailer as well as heavy rainfall impairing visibility, resulting in Corinda crashing into the side of the platform trailer.

Corinda sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Boonville Ambulance to Wynn Hospital for further medical treatment.

Jeffrey was cited for Commercial Vehicle Violations returnable to the Town of Ava Court at a later date and time. State Route 294 was closed off from State Route 26 to Gleasman Road while the accident was being investigated. The roadway has since reopened to normal traffic.

Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, New York State Troopers, Town of Boonville Fire Department and Ambulance services, Town of West Leyden Fire Department and Ambulance services as well as Cushmans Auto & Towing.
