According to Oneida County Sherriff Robert M. Maciol deputies responded to a MVA car- motorcycle around 1:00 pm this afternoon in the Town of Western. Rick Reed, 69 of Rome was operating a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle eastbound on Stokes-Westernville Rd. Carol Anderson, 74 of Long Boat Key, FL was operating her 2024 Subaru Outback and stopped at the intersection of Hilltop Road at Stokes-Westernville Road Anderson and her husband Clifford Anderson, 82 also of Long Boat Key, FL were attempting to turn westbound onto Stokes-Westernville Road when they entered the intersection Reed and his motorcycle struck the front end of Anderson’s vehicle ejecting him from the motorcycle. Reed was transported by AmCare Ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital. Reed was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel. Carol and Clifford were both transported by AmCare Ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

The Sherriff’s Office was assisted on scene by members of the New York State Police, Westernville Fire Department and North Country Towing.

At this time the crash is being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Unit with the assistance of the Reconstruction Unit and the ID Unit.
