The Oneida County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit would like to remind the public that starting November 1st through May 1st Personal Floatation Devices are required to be worn and securely fastened for vessels that are 21 feet or less and underway. The PFDs must be United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G.) approved, the correct size for the user, and in good working order is., free of tears, rot, waterlogging, and straps, buckles, and zippers all must be free of damage.
The Marine Patrol Unit is still actively patrolling the waterways of Oneida County and is encouraging everyone who is on the water this time of year to don their PFDs when underway regardless of the size of the vessel.
