According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, on November 7, 2024, around 09:17 pm, Deputies responded to the area of Route 49 on Ramp off of Martin St in the City of Rome for a single vehicle personal injury accident.

Deputies determined the operator, Betsy Murphy of Rome, was traveling southwest on the Route 49 on-ramp in a blue 2020 Jeep when she reported was edged off the roadway by a passing vehicle, which led her to swerve out of the way, causing her vehicle to go up onto the guardrail. As the vehicle hovered on the guardrail, it rolled over into the embankment. Murphy reported neck pain, and was assessed on scene by Amcare, followed by transport to Rome Hospital for further evaluation for non-life threatening injuries.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Troopers, City of Rome Fire Department, Amcare Ambulance, Riolos Towing, and Mike Jrs Towing.
