Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol has released the names of the people involved in the fatal crash on State Route 12 in Kirkland this morning

According to Sheriff Maciol, Bryan Forte 30, of Utica, was driving his 2010 Toyota Prius North on Route 12 when he came around a corner and drove into the oncoming lane. Forte’s car struck a 2011 Toyota pickup truck that was being driven in a Southerly direction by Jacob Schultz 25, of Utica. Both Forte and Schultz were transported to St. Elizabeth’s hospital. Schultz was treated and released. Forte was transferred to SUNY Hospital in Syracuse. His condition at this time is unknown, but his injuries were not life threatening.

Hannah Rice 24, of Madison, was a front seat passenger in Forte’s car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Route 12 was shut down for several hours as the Sheriff’s forensic unit and accident reconstruction unit were on the scene reconstructing the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
