The New York State Sheriffs' Association conducted elections for its Officers and Board of Directors at their 85th Annual Sheriff’s Winter Training Conference in Albany at the Desmond Hotel today. During the ceremony, Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol was truly honored to be sworn in as the President of the association after being elected by the Sheriffs of New York . Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. administered the Oath of Office to Sheriff Maciol and the Sheriff’s daughter, Amanda, held the Bible during the swearing-in. Amanda is a Police Officer with the City of Utica Police Department. In this position, Sheriff Maciol will lead the New York State Sheriff’s Association and work closely with all of New York’s Sheriffs to further the efforts of the Sheriff’s Association to enhance public safety across the state through professional training and accreditation programs, public safety programs, legislative priorities, and advocacy. The New York State Sheriff’s Association, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation, formed in 1934, for the purpose of assisting sheriffs in the efficient and effective delivery of services to the public. It comprises all of the elected and appointed Sheriffs of New York State.
