According to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Rome man was arrested on January 30, 2019 for engaging in inappropriate conduct in the presence of a young male child, while in the City of Rome in 2018. Oneida County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Melissa Bolton and Rome Police Department Detective E.A. D'Alessandro, both of whom are assigned to the CAC, arrested​ Michael Mayhew, age 53 on January 30, 2019 for one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A misdemeanor. Mayhew was arraigned at the Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Court at the Oneida County Correctional Facility and has since been released. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the Victim. The Victim has been offered services through the Child Advocacy Center. Sgt. Bolton and Det. D'Alessandro were assisted in this investigation by members of the MidState Child Exploitation Task Force.
