According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On February 4, 2019 at about 10:45 AM, Deputies responded to 6499 W South Rd in the Town of Westmoreland for a reported car pedestrian motor vehicle accident. Deputies determined that a Tow Truck operator from Midland Collision, Thomas Oberster (32) of Waterville, NY, was struck by a vehicle after completing a call for service. The vehicle struck the tow truck operator and left the area without stopping. Oberster was evaluated by EMS and treated for minor injuries before being transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for further evaluation.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office were assisted on scene by the Westmoreland Fire Department and COCVAC Ambulance.

Deputies are looking for assistance in identifying the vehicle involved. The vehicle is described as a black in color 2007-2011 body style Chevrolet 1500 extended cab pick-up truck with a partial New York State license plate given of EKY, and was operated by a 40-50 year old white male. The pick-up truck was last seen driving West on West South Street towards Cooper Street this morning.
