According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol; On February 24th, 2019 at approximately 6:35PM Deputies responded to Beacon Light Road in the Town of Verona for a car pedestrian motor vehicle accident resulting in injuries. An investigation revealed that Russell Wilczak, 48 of Rome was driving his 2011 Jeep Compass north bound on Beacon Light Road when his vehicle struck Darren Bretscher, 51 of Camden who was walking south bound. Bretscher was transported by Vineall Ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for non life threatening injuries. Russell was not injured. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was also assisted on scene by Verona Volunteer Fire Department.
