According to Oneida County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Rome man was arrested by the Child Advocacy Center on March 8, 2019. Oneida County Sheriff's Office Sergeant M. Bolton arrested John Secor Sr., age 60, for one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor. The arrest was the result of an investigation into inappropriate contact that Secor had with a young female child, on or around Thanksgiving 2017, in the City of Rome. Secor was issued an appearance ticket to return to court at a later date. An order of protection will be requested through the court. The Victim has been offered services through the Child Advocacy Center.
