According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, on March 12, 2019 at approximately 5:00 PM Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Moran Post Rd in the Town of Camden for a Domestic Dispute. An investigation by Oneida County Sheriff Road Patrol Deputies and the Criminal Investigation Unit revealed that during the dispute, Tammy M. Joy, 37 of Camden had sprayed her Fifteen Year Old child with pepper spray and had also pushed her twelve year old child.

The fifteen year old child was treated at the scene by Camden Ambulance and Joy was transported by ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital for further evaluation due to ingestion of alcohol and prescription medication. Joy was arrested and charged with Criminal Contempt in the first degree (Class E Felony), two counts of endangering the welfare of a child (Class A Misdemeanor), and two counts of harassment in the second degree (Violation). Joy is currently in the custody of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and is awaiting arraignment.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Camden Ambulance and AmCare. The investigation is ongoing.
