According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on Monday, April 1, 2019 at about 5:31 A.M. Deputies responded to 124 W. Main St, Stewarts Shops, in the Village of Waterville for a reported personal injury motor vehicle accident. The investigation into the accident determined Luis Vargas-Morales (36) of Utica, was operating his 2004 Chrysler Town & Country in a westerly direction on W. Main St in the Village of Waterville, when he pulled into the Stewarts Shops parking lot and lost control due to the slippery pavement. Vargas-Morales was unable to stop, subsequently striking the barrier around the gas pumps. Vargas-Morales was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital by Central Oneida County Ambulance, with non life threatening injuries. Sheriff Deputies were assisted on scene by the Waterville Fire Department, Central Oneida County Ambulance, and the New York State Police.
