On today’s date, April 25, 2019 at about 11:45am, the Oneida County Sheriffs School Resource Officer (SRO) that is assigned to the Westmoreland High School was summoned by school officials to assist with a social media investigation. Students following the rule of “see something say something”, quickly reported a social media post by a fifteen year old student taken on sight in a class room. The picture portrayed a second fifteen year old student with what appeared to be a rifle barrel protruding from his coat. Officials took immediate action separating the students from the general population. The investigation determined the two involved students photo shopped the weapon into the picture. Although the investigation is ongoing by members of the Oneida County Sheriff`s Office, at no time were students or staff placed in danger as a result of the quick actions of the reporting students, staff and the SRO.
