According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on Thursday, May 9th, 2019, at about 5:07 P.M., Deputies responded to Oswego Road in the Outer District of Rome, for a reported Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident. The investigation determined that Dillon Meagher (24) of Ilion, was operating his brown 2005 Ford in a easterly direction on Oswego Road. Dillon had dropped a water bottle under his feet. Dillon was entering a blind corner when he veered out of his lane of travel into the oncoming lane, in an attempt to reach for the bottle. Dillon subsequently collided into a white, 1999 Ford Mustang also entering the blind corner in the opposite direction, which was operated by Thomas Foster (70). Thomas also had his wife, Paula Foster (62) in the passenger seat of his car when they were struck. Both Thomas and Paula suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Rome Memorial Hospital by an AmCare Ambulance for evaluations. Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by AmCare fire and Ambulance crews. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene due to the extensive damages.
