According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Robert Maciol, an arrest has been made on the Bank Robbery that occurred on May 8, 2019 at the Berkshire Bank located on Main Street in the Village of Oriskany Falls.

Arrested is Walter C. Parker, age 71 who resided on North Broad Street in the Village of West Carthage, NY. Parker was charged with Robbery in the 2nd degree and Criminal use of a Firearm in the 2nd degree. Both are Class C felonies. Parker was processed at the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and is currently held in the Oneida County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment in CAP Court later today.

Back on May 8th, Parker traveled from Carthage, NY to the Oriskany Falls area where he committed the Bank Robbery and then returned to West Carthage. Parker is familiar with the area, he resided in the Town of New Hartford and Town of Kirkland back in the 1980’s.

During the course of the investigation the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office recovered articles of clothing that Parker wore while committing the robbery. The Sheriff’s Office was also able to come up with a make and model of the vehicle used in the robbery. Through long hours of investigation, the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Unit which also consist of the Identification Unit and Warrants Unit were able to identify Walter C. Parker as a potential suspect.

On May23rd, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office received a DNA confirmation from the NY State Police Crime Lab, from evidence secured from the articles of clothing. The DNA came back to Walter C. Parker.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office traveled to West Carthage, NY on May 23rd and 24th and was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and West Carthage Police Department. Walter Parker was located at his place of employment this morning and taken into custody, Parkers vehicle was also impounded.

While developing the background information on Walter Parker, it was learned he was a serial Bank Robber back in 2004 when he committed multiple Bank Robberies in NY State.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the NY State Police, NY State Investigation Center, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and West Carthage Police Department.
