According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, on May 31,2019, at around 2:18 AM Deputies responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Rome Taberg Road, in the City of Rome.

Deputies on scene conducted an investigation and it was found that Deona Presseau, age 39, of Bernhards Bay, was operating a 2012 Dodge Ram east on Rome Taberg Road when she left the southern shoulder of the roadway. Presseau's vehicle then struck a mailbox and continued to travel along the southern shoulder of the roadway before she struck a ditch and fence.

Presseau suffered facial injuries as a result of the accident and was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Presseau was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and issued Traffic Citations returnable to Rome City Court at a later time.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by members of the New York State Police, Rome Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, and Ellingers Towing.
