Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM), a partner of the NYS Sheriff’s Association and the NYS Association of Chiefs of Police in our advocacy against the legalization of marijuana, has recently issued the attached report which details the estimated financial impact that the legalization of recreational marijuana will have on New York State law enforcement. It is a stark reminder that whatever meager financial gains will come from legalization, they will be dwarfed by the costs.
