Sheriff’s Office To Hold Corrections Officer Job Fair and Correctional Facility Open House

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, an Open House & Job Fair will be held at the Oneida County Jail from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, July 29th. Anyone thinking about beginning their career as a Correction Officer is encouraged to attend this event. In addition to obtaining a detailed job description and application to sign up for the upcoming Civil Service Exam, you will also get a first-hand tour of the Oneida County Jail along with meeting several Correction Officers that will be able to answer any questions that you may have.

Those attending the event are asked to bring photo identification with them in order to be able to tour the correctional facility. The Oneida County Correctional Facility is located within the Sheriff’s Public Safety Complex located at 6075 Judd Road in Oriskany.

Those interested in becoming a Correction Officer have until the end of business on August 9th, 2019to apply to take the exam and the exam will be given on September 28th, 2019. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age on or before the date of appointment, they must possess a high school diploma or equivalency, and be a resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego, or Otsego counties. The starting salary for a Correction Officer is $34,810 and advances to $40,953 after successful completion of the Basic Corrections Academy or after successfully completing six months of employment in the bargaining unit.
