New York Mills Man Arrested for Assaulting a Child

According to Oneida County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a New York Mills man was arrested today, 8/7/19, for Reckless Assault of a Child, a Class D Felony. Angel Quinones Jr., age 30, was arrested by Oneida County Sheriff's Office Sergeant M. Bolton and Rome P.D. Detective E.A. D'Alessandro, both of whom are assigned to the Child Advocacy Center. According to Sgt. Bolton, on or around 8/2/19, Quinones Jr. shook a two month child causing injury to the child's brain, eye and abdomen. The incident occurred at Quinones Jr.'s residence in the Village of New York Mills. The child was brought to Upstate University Hospital on 8/4/19, where he was treated for his injuries and subsequently released. Child Protective Service members assigned to the Child Advocacy Center also assisted in this investigation. Quinones Jr. was held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility pending arraignment at the Centralized Arraignment Court. An order of protection has been requested on behalf of the victim.
