According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is also the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, an Oriskany Falls man has been arrested for having inappropriate internet contact with an under-aged female.

Sheriff’s Investigator Mark R. Chrysler was assigned to the case, which began in early July. It was originally reported that 19 year old Shane Kilts was having an inappropriate relationship with a 14 year old female child. During the course of the investigation, Chrysler learned that Kilts had sent indecent material in the month of June to the minor through a social media site.

On August 19, 2019, Investigator Chrysler and Sheriff’s Investigator Ryan Marshall arrested Kilts without incident and charged him with one count of Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree, a class D Felony.

After processing, Kilts was held at the Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Court to await his arraignment.

An Order of Protection was requested on behalf of the victim.

The victim was offered counseling services through the Child Advocacy Center.
