According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol; On August 20th, 2019 at approximately 4:01AM Deputies responded to State Route 46 in the City of Rome for a single car motor vehicle accident resulting in an injury.

An investigation revealed that Daniel Tompkins, 26 of Vienna was driving his 2014 Chevy Equinox northbound on State Route 46 when he lost control and left the eastern shoulder of the roadway. Tompkins struck a National Grid Utility pole and then a culvert before his vehicle came to rest.

Tompkis was transported by AmCare Ambulance to Rome Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, City of Rome Fire Department, and AmCare Ambulance.

Tompkins was issued a traffic ticket for moved from lane unsafe returnable to Rome City Court.
