At a ceremony this morning at the Sheriff’s Office in Oriskany , Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. presented me and the men & women of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office with a Proclamation declaring Sheriff’s Week in Oneida County from September 22nd - September 28th.

Sheriff’s Week in Oneida County coincides with Sheriff’s Week in New York State previously declared by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Sheriff’s Week was established to highlight the service and contributions of County Sheriffs as a distinct and vital component of municipal government and local communities.

County Executive Picente and Sheriff Maciol both thanked the members of Sheriff’s Office for their commitment and dedication in serving and protecting the people of Oneida County.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Officers was first established in 1798 with a handful of members on horseback and has grown to more than 500 sworn & civilian employees that serve in the Corrections Division , Law Enforcement Division, Civil Division, and Court Security & School Security Units
