According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, on Friday, October 4th, 2019 at about 7:45 P.M., Deputies responded to State Route 5 in the Town of Westmoreland for a reported Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident. The investigation into the accident determined that Philip A. Evans, age 34 of Rome, was operating a blue, 1999 Ford F-350, North on Skyline Drive when Evans failed to stop at a stop sign. Evans then traveled across four lanes of traffic on Route 5 before leaving the roadway and entering a grassy area. Evans was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Evans sustained injuries to his face and head and was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital by COVAC Ambulance for further evaluation. Evans was issued citations and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Westmoreland Court at a later date. Deputies were assisted by COVAC Ambulance and Westmoreland Fire Department.
